So I am cruising through K-Mart picking up a few things and I remember that I needed some rubbing alcohol. No big deal, then low and behold I run into something rather unexpected on the shelf… 70% Isopropyl Alcohol with Citrus.

I check out the bottle and it is regular alcohol with a citrus scent. Sweet.

First thing I did when I got home was clean my bong and man this stuff is great. I just added a little bit of salt and it was just like I remember formula 420 being.

I highly recommend this citrus scented blend. You get great cleaning powers and now you don’t even have to deal with the sharp smell of the rubbing alcohol.

I paid about 2 bucks a bottle and I am gonna go back for more. Do yourself a favor and pick some up.

Keep cleaning those bongs.

We knew it was a matter of time before we would make our own ‘how to clean a bong’ video. Consider this version 1.1 and please stay tuned for more videos.

Cleaning a bong is a simple thing. Too often we make bong cleaning complicated or we stoners are just too lazy to do the job. Bottom line is that if you clean your water pipe weekly, you will have a healthier, more pleasurable smoking experience.

I hope you enjoy the video and appreciate the advice.

You, your bong, and your smoke will be better for it.

Usedbongs.com is trying to start a clean pipe and bong movement.

All too often pipes and bongs are neglected. Filled full of unhealthy, nasty residue.

I try to make this analogy: A marijuana enthusiast is to a cooking enthusiast as a bong is to a frying pan. They are both tools of the trade.

Would you want to eat what a cook had used the previous day without cleaning? That’s nasty and so are dirty bongs. Your pipes and bongs not only deserve to be cleaned, but should be done for health reasons.

Once you get into the habit of regular cleaning it becomes less chore like. Cleaning will become routine and less challenging. Having to clean out a couple months of crap can be quit tedious.

As UsedBongs.com grows, we will provide constant assistance in your bong and pipe cleaning missions. Tips, tricks, how-to’s, and how not’s.

Also, we welcome any information you might have to share. Please feel free to contact us with any submissions for UsedBongs.com. Helping your fellow stoner achieve cleanliness is a good thing.

We always feel it is time to clean your bong. Here is an example of waiting too long. Just watch the first 20 seconds. That is about all Team UsedBongs could handle before crying. Poor Bong and poor people. Nasty.

I actually just sold a bong that I had for years. I cleaned it to new condition. (Check some of our other post for tips on how to do that.) Anyway, got ride of an old Graffix bong and was able to buy something new. 420 bay is kinda like craigslist meets ebay with 420 goodness.

I am sure that this will be up for debate, but I feel the easiest way to clean you pipe or bong is to use Rubbing Alcohol, Salt and Rice.
[[Show as slideshow]]
The alcohol is what breaks down the sludge. You add the rice and salt to act as scrubbers. If you have a bong, You can add all these directly to the tube and shake away. Please try to cover any openings with your hand and fingers. If you have a smaller piece, just use an appropriately sized heavy duty ziplock for the agitation. Soaking also helps for the stuck on stuff. As always rinse well after doing this. Hot water really helps for the final clean. i also had a friend that like to use Simple Green as a final go through. He said it took out anything the alcohol might have left behind. I have seen alcohol leave a milky like residue. Simple Green took care of that.

The combination of all three of these will lead to a near perfect clean job. Some say that the rice is overkill, but I found that the rice and salt combo work in perfect harmony.

The cool thing about this cleaning method is that you probably have all of these components in your house already. If you don’t, you can find this at just about any grocery, drug or hardware store. No need to go to a headshop for any pricey solution. I am not knocking them, but they are not the only way to get a piece of your clean. Please be careful using this method on anything else but glass, ceramic, pyrex, or metal. I have heard of plastics and acrylics bust with the alcohol.

Ease: 7/10 No work involved really unless your piece is DIRTY.

Resin Rescue: 0/10 No way to rescue the resin with this method. So if your into hippe crack, go elsewhere.

Maintenance Method: 8/10 An easy way to maintain your piece.

Resurrection Method: 8/10 Great way to freshen up old pieces

Most dentures are made from porcelain, a type of ceramic or they are made of resin, a very hard plastic. Hence this product lends itself to the bong and pipe cleaning world.

I tried this technique on a glass spoon pipe. I put the pipe in a ziploc freezer bag with the efferdent and some water.

The magic started when the bubbles kicked in and cleansing began. Tiny Bubbles of Cleaning Goodness

It only took a few minutes for the bubbles to fizzle out and then I kinda let it marinate. After pulling the pipe out of that now nasty ziplock, I had to touch up a couple of areas with a q-tip. Gunk came of real easy though. I rinsed the piece real well and she was as good as the day we met.

Although I haven’t tried it, I could see this working well on a lot of bongs.

Note: If the resin was old, I could see having to do this a couple times.

Ease: 9/10 No work involved really

Resin Rescue: 0/10 No way to rescue the resin with this method. So if your into hippe crack, go elsewhere.

Maintenance Method: 8/10 Could be an easy way to maintain your piece.

Resurrection Method: 6/10 Would have to do twice to bring back a piece from the dead.
